Add Shipped Shield Package Protection to a Draft Order

Shipped Shield Package Protection can be added to a Shopify draft order before the customer completes payment. This allows the draft order to include package protection as a line item, similar to how Shield appears during checkout.

Before You Start

Make sure the draft order has already been created and saved in Shopify. The Shield attachment tool uses the Shopify draft order ID, so the draft order must be saved before Shield can be added.

Add Shield to a Draft Order

  1. In Shopify Admin, go to Orders > Drafts.

  2. Open the draft order that needs Shipped Shield Package Protection.

  3. Confirm the draft order includes the correct:

    • Products

    • Customer information

    • Shipping address

    • Order total

  4. Click Save if the draft order has not been saved yet.

  5. From the saved draft order, click More actions.

  6. Select Add Shield to Draft Order.

  7. A new Cavalry page will open titled Add Shield to Draft Order.

  8. Confirm that the Shopify Draft Order ID is populated.

    If the field is blank, copy the draft order ID from the Shopify draft order URL and paste it into the field.

  9. Click Save.

  10. Wait for the confirmation message that Shield is being attached to the draft order.

  11. Return to the Shopify draft order and refresh the page if needed.

  12. Confirm that Shipped Shield Package Assurance has been added as a new line item on the draft order.

What Happens After Shield Is Added

Once Shield is added, the draft order total will update to include the package protection fee. The customer can then be sent the draft order invoice or payment link with Shield included in the order total.

Troubleshooting

If Shipped Shield Package Protection does not appear on the draft order:

  • Confirm the draft order was saved before adding Shield.

  • Confirm the correct Shopify draft order ID was used.

  • Refresh the Shopify draft order page.

  • Try adding Shield again from More actions.

  • Confirm the store has Shipped Shield enabled and properly configured.
